'Bioyug on Wheels' rolls into Kochi to spotlight PLA Innovation at KPLEX Expo 2025

Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd (BCML) continues to drive its impactful nationwide outreach initiative, 'Bioyug on Wheels', with its latest stop in Kochi, Kerala, during the prestigious KPLEX Expo 2025 - International Plastics Exhibition & Conference, held from September 11th to 14th. This mobile awareness campaign is a cornerstone of BCML's broader mission to promote circular economy principles and mainstream the adoption of bio-based innovations such as PLA (polylactic acid) bioplastics across India.

Since its successful launch in Mumbai in May 2025, Bioyug on Wheels has travelled across key regions-including cities in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat-engaging thousands of stakeholders through a series of immersive, knowledge-driven rich experiences. These include live demonstrations, interactive exhibits, expert dialogues, and collaborative sessions with academia, industry, and policy influencers.

The Kochi edition marks a key moment in the journey of Bioyug on Wheels, bringing the mobile exhibition into the heart of Kerala's innovative landscape. At KPLEX, a major platform for materials and technology, Bioyug is sharing new possibilities in climate-friendly materials like PLA bioplastics-highlighting their role in shaping a more sustainable future across sectors like packaging, textiles, and agriculture.

Key Highlights of Bioyug on Wheels' Kochi Edition at KPLEX Expo:

- Institutional Engagement: Representatives from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), as well as the Presidents of the Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh Plastic Associations respectively visited the Bioyug on Wheels pavilion, showing strong institutional interest in sustainable material alternatives.

- Industry Participation: More than 250 industry professionals visited the mobile unit on the second day alone, underscoring growing momentum for bio-based solutions in the South Indian plastics and manufacturing ecosystem.

- Interactive Format: The mobile unit's engaging format-featuring PLA samples and technical showcases attracted manufacturers, entrepreneurs, policy advocates, and academia alike.

The ban includes items like plastic water bottles, soft drink bottles, plates, cups, straws, and bakery boxes-particularly in hilly tourist destinations, official functions, and eateries across the state. As regulatory landscapes evolve and market demand for eco-friendly alternatives intensifies, Bioyug on Wheels serves as a vital interface between innovation and implementation.
