Ahead of the IPL season, Airtel augments its network at the Chepauk Stadium

In preparation for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) matches scheduled from March 22, 2025, Bharti Airtel has made comprehensive arrangements at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, commonly known as the Chepauk Stadium. Its efforts will ensure a seamless network experience for the anticipated crowd of nearly 100,000 cricketing fans during the matches.

Airtel has enhanced four existing sites around the stadium and strategically installed six macro sites along with twelve cells inside the ground, each with a high bandwidth capacity and deployed a supplementary Cell on Wheels (COW) within the stadium vicinity. This augmentation will significantly improve voice and data connectivity for Airtel customers attending the matches. The network upgrades have been strategically planned to accommodate the expected high volume of spectators.

Speaking on the readiness, Tarun Virmani, CEO - Tamil Nadu, Bharti Airtel, said "As excitement builds for the much-anticipated IPL tournament, we have significantly reinforced our mobile network across the Chepauk stadium. With thousands of fans expected, our efforts will ensure that customers enjoy an uninterrupted connection, allowing them to share and experience every thrilling moment of the game."

To offer a seamless and ubiquitous network experience across Chennai city, extensive network optimization has been conducted at the airport, railway stations and all other tourist locations. All the key premium hotels in and around the city have also undergone comprehensive network assessments to enhance coverage.

Airtel has taken measures specifically for the IPL and have augmented its network across all the stadiums in the country to cater to the cricket fever starting from March and continuing on till May 2025.

Shares of Bharti Airtel Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 1726.30 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 1704.95. The total number of shares traded during the day was 92394 in over 6384 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 1731.55 and intraday low of 1691.70. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 158400958.00.
