Orient Electric Delivers Strong Q1 FY27 Performance: PAT Surges 79.7% YoY as Multi-Segment Momentum Drives Revenue Past ₹949 Crore

Orient Electric Limited (BSE: 541301, NSE: ORIENTELEC), a part of the diversified CK Birla Group, announced its financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27). The company recorded solid top-line growth accompanied by a sharp jump in net profit, supported by strong demand during the summer season, disciplined cost management, and a favorable portfolio mix.

Financial Highlights

For the quarter under review, Orient Electric reported revenue of ₹949.8 crore, reflecting a 23.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared to ₹769.1 crore in Q1 FY26. Sequentially, revenue remained flat with a 0.2% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) growth over ₹948.3 crore recorded in Q4 FY26.

Gross profit for Q1 FY27 came in at ₹283.1 crore, up 13.0% YoY from ₹250.6 crore in Q1 FY26, though down 3.6% QoQ from ₹293.7 crore in Q4 FY26. Gross margin stood at 29.8%, compressing by 277 bps YoY (from 32.6% in Q1 FY26) and 116 bps QoQ (from 31.0% in Q4 FY26) amidst ongoing commodity price pressures.

EBITDA expanded 44.5% YoY to ₹66.6 crore from ₹46.1 crore in Q1 FY26. EBITDA margin improved by 102 bps YoY to reach 7.0% (vs. 6.0% in Q1 FY26), driven by tight operational efficiencies, though it contracted 115 bps QoQ compared to 8.2% (₹77.4 crore) in Q4 FY26.

Profit Before Tax (PBT) surged 79.4% YoY to ₹42.5 crore in Q1 FY27 compared to ₹23.7 crore in Q1 FY26, while declining 21.9% QoQ against ₹54.4 crore in Q4 FY26.

Net Profit After Tax (PAT) jumped 79.7% YoY to ₹31.5 crore for Q1 FY27 compared to ₹17.5 crore in Q1 FY26. On a sequential basis, PAT fell 21.8% QoQ from ₹40.3 crore reported in Q4 FY26.

Segment-Wise Growth & Operational Performance

Electrical Consumer Durables (ECD): The segment delivered a robust 22.7% YoY growth, anchored by strong seasonal sales in the core fans category.

BLDC Fans Portfolio: Demonstrating strong consumer traction for energy-efficient and premium solutions, the BLDC fan segment achieved a 36% YoY revenue growth.

Lighting & Switchgear: Recorded impressive momentum with a 25.4% YoY revenue growth, further diversifying and strengthening the company's overall revenue streams.
