CSB Bank Reports Strong Q1 FY27 Results: Net Profit Rises 27% YoY to ₹150 Crore Powered by 26% NII Growth

The Board of Directors of CSB Bank took on record the unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27) during its meeting held on July 22, 2026, following a limited review by statutory auditors.

The private sector lender posted a strong overall performance, highlighted by a 27% year-on-year (YoY) increase in Net Profit After Tax (PAT), robust advance growth driven by gold loans, and continued balance sheet expansion.

Key Financial & Profitability Highlights

Profit After Tax (PAT): Grew 27% YoY to ₹150 crore in Q1 FY27, up from ₹119 crore in Q1 FY26 (though lower sequentially by 26% compared to ₹202 crore in Q4 FY26).

Net Interest Income (NII): Expanded 26% YoY to ₹479 crore for Q1 FY27, compared to ₹379 crore in Q1 FY26. Sequentially, NII saw a 3% growth from ₹464 crore in Q4 FY26.

Interest Income & Expense: Total interest income rose 24% YoY to ₹1,287 crore (vs. ₹1,041 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹1,201 crore in Q4 FY26). Interest expense stood at ₹809 crore, up 22% YoY from ₹662 crore in Q1 FY26.

Non-Interest / Other Income: Reached ₹229 crore, reflecting a 7% YoY decline from ₹245 crore in Q1 FY26 and a 25% QoQ decrease from ₹306 crore in Q4 FY26.

Operating Profit: Advanced 14% YoY to ₹251 crore, compared to ₹220 crore in Q1 FY26 (and ₹294 crore in Q4 FY26). Total operating expenses (Opex) stood at ₹457 crore, up 13% YoY.

Profit Before Tax (PBT): Climbed 26% YoY to ₹202 crore from ₹160 crore in Q1 FY26.

Key Margins & Returns: Net Interest Margin (NIM) stood at 3.66%, while Return on Assets (RoA) came in at 1.09% for Q1 FY27.

Operational Scale, Deposits & Advances

The bank maintained strong credit momentum across key lending segments:

Net Advances: Expanded 24% YoY to ₹40,309 crore as on June 30, 2026, compared to ₹32,552 crore as on June 30, 2025 (and ₹39,848 crore as on March 31, 2026).

Gold Loans: Portfolio surged 47% YoY to ₹21,906 crore (vs. ₹14,928 crore as on June 30, 2025).

Wholesale Lending: Recorded a sharp YoY growth of 37%.

Total Deposits: Grew 26% YoY to ₹45,415 crore as on June 30, 2026, up from ₹35,935 crore a year prior and ₹44,246 crore sequentially as on March 31, 2026.

CASA Portfolio: Total CASA deposits stood at ₹8,815 crore (up 4% YoY). The CASA ratio was recorded at 19% as on June 30, 2026, compared to 20% in the preceding quarter and 23% in the year-ago period.

Asset Quality, Provisions & Efficiency Ratios

CSB Bank maintained an accelerated provisioning policy during the quarter to ensure balance sheet resilience:

Gross Non-Performing Assets (GNPA): Stood at 1.75% as on June 30, 2026, improving from 1.84% as on June 30, 2025 (though up slightly from 1.66% as on March 31, 2026).

Net Non-Performing Assets (NNPA): Improved to 0.39% as on June 30, 2026, down from 0.66% as on June 30, 2025, and 0.40% as on March 31, 2026.

Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR): Expanded to 86.83% (including technical write-offs) as on June 30, 2026, up from 80.46% a year ago and 86.33% as of March 31, 2026. Non-tax provisions for the quarter stood at ₹49 crore.

Cost-Income Ratio (CIR): Stood at 64.55% for Q1 FY27, compared to 64.70% in Q1 FY26 and 61.88% in Q4 FY26.

Cost to Assets: Improved to 3.31% in Q1 FY27 from 3.49% in Q1 FY26 and 3.63% in Q4 FY26.

Capital Adequacy (CRAR): Capital structure remained robust at 19.96% as on June 30, 2026, well above statutory regulatory mandates.

MD & CEO Speak: During the quarter, our Deposits and Advances registered a robust year-on-year growth of 26% and 24%, respectively, significantly outperforming the industry averages. On the profitability front, our operating performance remained healthy, with operating profit growing by 14 % and net profit increasing by 27 % on a YoY basis. We fared better in key ratios such as NIM, RoA, RoE, CIR, GNPA, NNPA etc as compared to Q1 FY 26. Our liquidity position continues to remain comfortable, and all key financial and regulatory ratios are stable and well within the guidance. Looking ahead, our key priority for the remainder of the fiscal year will be to enhance productivity and unlock the full benefits of our technology transformation initiatives, thereby accelerating the realization of returns on these investments. As we move forward, we are now one quarter closer to achieving our SBS 2030 vision.
