Sona Comstar 2.0 & Unveiling of "Robotics & Physical AI" Vertical
Sona Comstar introduced its Sona Comstar 2.0 long-term strategic framework. Building upon its past decade of growth (FY15-FY25), the strategy aims to achieve a 10x revenue expansion by FY35 through three main pillars:
Accelerating new product vertical creation both organically and through acquisitions.
Expanding presence and market penetration across Eastern world markets.
Cultivating intelligent and connected systems as a key growth engine alongside electrification.
As part of this roadmap, the company expanded its existing Sensors and Software business into a broader growth vertical named "Robotics and Physical AI". Under this expanded domain, Sona Comstar plans to:
Manufacture mission-critical components and sub-systems for robotic platforms.
Develop perception technology stacks and offer Engineering Research & Development (ER&D) services.
Design and assemble selected full-stack robot platforms.
Order Book Additions
During the quarter, Sona Comstar secured three major customer programs across EV, Hybrid, and ICE segments:
Hybrid Passenger Vehicle Program: Awarded by a North American OEM to supply differential assemblies. Program value: ₹6.4 billion (Production target: H2 FY29).
Electric Two-Wheeler Program: Awarded by a new-age EV OEM to supply hub wheel traction motors across two orders. Program value: ₹900 million (Production target: H2 FY26).
ICE Passenger Vehicle Program: Awarded by a North American OEM to supply differential gears. Program value: ₹2.1 billion (Production target: H2 FY28).
Mr Vivek Vikram Singh, MD & Group CEO, commented: "Q1 FY27 marks the unveiling of Sona Comstar 2.0 - our ambition to grow tenfold again over the next decade. As part of this strategy, we announced our entry into Robotics and Physical AI. Our partnership with DENSO also takes us into high-voltage electric and hybrid powertrain systems, completing an important missing piece in our electrification portfolio.
The quarter was equally strong financially. We delivered our highest-ever quarterly revenue, BEV revenue and BEV revenue share. Revenue grew by 54% year on year, while EBITDA and PAT increased by 49% and 45%, respectively. BEV revenue more than doubled, and its share of automotive revenue reached an all-time high of 44%, despite continued weakness in the US EV market. This demonstrates the increasing diversification of our EV business across customers, products and geographies. We also secured new business across EV, hybrid and ICE powertrains, spanning India, Europe and North America and nearly every product category in which we operate."
