Bank of India (BSE: 532149, NSE: BANKINDIA) announced its quarterly financial results for the period ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), posting a stellar 36.23% year-on-year surge in Net Profit to ₹3,068 crore, compared to ₹2,252 crore in Q1 FY26.

The public sector lender's performance was bolstered by double-digit growth in advances, strong core interest income, expanding net interest margins, and a sharp reduction in non-performing assets (NPAs).

Core Financial & Profitability Highlights

Net Profit: Rose 36.23% YoY to ₹3,068 crore in Q1 FY27 (versus ₹2,252 crore in Q1 FY26).

Operating Profit: Expanded 25.99% YoY to ₹5,051 crore (versus ₹4,009 crore in Q1 FY26).

Net Interest Income (NII): Grew 12.61% YoY to ₹6,833 crore (up from ₹6,068 crore in Q1 FY26).

Non-Interest Income: Climbed 19.07% YoY to ₹2,579 crore (up from ₹2,166 crore in Q1 FY26).

Net Interest Margin (NIM): Global NIM stood firmly at 2.52%.

Cost to Income Ratio (CIR): Improved significantly by 498 bps YoY to 46.33%, highlighting tightened cost management.

Return Metrics:

Return on Assets (ROA): Advanced 19 bps YoY to 1.01%.

Return on Equity (ROE): Rose 257 bps YoY to 16.12%.

Robust Business Expansion Across Portfolios

Bank of India's overall business footprint demonstrated healthy double-digit growth driven by retail and RAM (Retail, Agriculture, MSME) lending.

Global Business: Crosses the ₹17-lakh-crore mark, reaching ₹17,55,699 crore (up 16.57% YoY from ₹15,06,142 crore in June 2025).

Global Deposits: Rose 14.90% YoY to ₹9,57,924 crore (Domestic deposits grew 16.15% to ₹8,24,963 crore; Overseas deposits grew 7.73% to ₹1,32,961 crore).

Domestic CASA: Domestic CASA deposits grew 7.18% YoY to ₹3,02,085 crore, with the CASA ratio holding steady at 36.68%.

Global Advances: Scaled 18.64% YoY to ₹7,97,775 crore (Domestic advances grew 19.20% to ₹6,73,833 crore; Overseas advances grew 15.67% to ₹1,23,942 crore).

Breakdown of RAM Segment Growth

The RAM (Retail, Agriculture, and MSME) segment grew by 19.75% YoY to ₹3,92,833 crore, constituting 58.30% of total domestic gross advances:

Retail Credit: Surged 20.60% YoY to ₹1,66,170 crore.

MSME Advances: Rose 19.34% YoY to ₹1,10,881 crore.

Agriculture Credit: Expanded 18.92% YoY to ₹1,15,782 crore.

Substantial Improvement in Asset Quality

The bank achieved significant stress reduction across its credit portfolio:

Gross NPA (GNPA): Reduced by 26.41% YoY to ₹14,454 crore (down from ₹19,640 crore in June 2025).

Net NPA (NNPA): Reduced by 18.81% YoY to ₹4,019 crore (down from ₹4,950 crore in June 2025).

GNPA Ratio: Improved by 111 bps YoY to 1.81% (versus 2.92% in June 2025).

Net NPA Ratio: Improved by 24 bps YoY to 0.51% (versus 0.75% in June 2025).

Slippage Ratio: Lowered by 9 bps YoY to 0.24%.

Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR): Strengthened to 93.83% (up from 92.94% in June 2025).

Capital Adequacy & Priority Sector Compliance

Capital Adequacy Ratio (CRAR): Stood strong at 18.69%, with CET-1 ratio at 15.97%, providing ample headroom for future credit expansion.

Priority Sector Target: Priority sector advances reached 47.11% of ANBC (exceeding regulatory requirement).

Agricultural advances achieved 19.85% of ANBC.

Small & Marginal Farmers achieved 14.22% of ANBC (versus norm of 10%).

Weaker Sections achieved 17.95% of ANBC (versus norm of 12%).

Financial Inclusion, Digital Footprint & Branch Network

Financial Inclusion: Opened 3.58 lakh new PMJDY accounts during Q1 FY27. Total Jan Suraksha enrollments reached:

PMJJBY: 137 lakh (vs 124 lakh in Jun '25)

PMSBY: 309 lakh (vs 290 lakh in Jun '25)

APY: 44.69 lakh (vs 40.57 lakh in Jun '25)

Digital Banking Adoption: Digital transactions grew 22% YoY to 2.08 billion.

Internet Banking (Omni Neo): 10.1 million registered users.

Mobile Banking (Omni Neo): 13.9 million registered users.

Physical Footprint: Operates 38,063 touchpoints as of June 30, 2026, including 5,510 domestic branches (Rural: 35%, Semi-Urban: 30%, Urban: 17%, Metro: 18%).
