Jio Platforms Reports Surge in Q1 FY27 Net Profit to ₹7,764 Crore: EBITDA Margins Expand to Record 53.3%

Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has announced its consolidated financial and operational results for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27), ended June 30, 2026. The digital services giant delivered strong year-on-year growth across revenue and operational metrics, anchored by expanded 5G network coverage, increased data usage, and steady subscriber additions in both mobile and fixed broadband segments.

Record Financial Performance and Revenue Scaling

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Jio Platforms posted a Gross Revenue of ₹45,961 crore, representing a 12.0% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) increase from the ₹41,054 crore recorded in Q1 FY26. On a sequential basis, gross revenue grew by 2.3% compared to ₹44,928 crore in the preceding quarter (Q4 FY26).

Revenue from Operations reached ₹39,173 crore during the quarter, marking an 11.8% Y-o-Y jump from ₹35,032 crore in Q1 FY26. This top-line expansion was primarily driven by continued gains in subscriber market share, organic growth in Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), and the scaling up of digital services. Non-connectivity digital offerings-encompassing Content, Cloud Compute, IoT, and Managed Services-led the growth trajectory with a 20% Y-o-Y rise, while core connectivity operations grew by 11% Y-o-Y.

The company achieved a record quarterly EBITDA of ₹20,865 crore, up 15.1% Y-o-Y compared to ₹18,135 crore in Q1 FY26. Strong double-digit top-line growth and disciplined cost management helped expand the EBITDA margin (calculated on Revenue from Operations) by 150 basis points Y-o-Y to a record 53.3%, compared to 51.8% in Q1 FY26 and 52.4% in Q4 FY26.

Net Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q1 FY27 stood at ₹7,764 crore, reflecting a 9.2% Y-o-Y increase from ₹7,110 crore in Q1 FY26. Profit growth was partially offset by elevated finance costs of ₹2,980 crore (up 41.6% Y-o-Y) and higher depreciation charges of ₹7,458 crore (up 15.1% Y-o-Y), both stemming from the capitalisation of 5G infrastructure assets. Tax expenses for the quarter came in at ₹2,663 crore.

Operating Metrics and Subscriber Base Expansion

Jio Platforms continued its expansion in user scale, closing the quarter with a total customer base of 533.3 million. This represents a net addition of 8.9 million subscribers during the quarter and a 7.1% Y-o-Y growth from 498.1 million in Q1 FY26. Customer retention improved further, with monthly churn dropping to 1.6%.

Key operational benchmarks include:

ARPU Realisation: Monthly ARPU increased to ₹215.6 per subscriber, up 3.3% Y-o-Y from ₹208.8 in Q1 FY26 and ₹214.0 in Q4 FY26. The improvement was supported by a better subscriber mix and positive seasonality, offset in part by promotional offers for fixed broadband customers.

Data Usage and Engagement: Total data traffic surged 26.9% Y-o-Y to 69.4 billion gigabytes (69 Exabytes) during Q1 FY27, compared to 54.7 billion GB in Q1 FY26. Per capita data consumption reached 43.7 GB per month.

Voice Volumes: Total voice traffic grew 2.0% Y-o-Y to 1.52 trillion minutes during the three-month period.

Strategic Progress in 5G, Fixed Broadband, and Innovation

Jio Platforms further consolidated its market lead in next-generation connectivity and technology IP during the quarter:

5G Leadership: The 5G subscriber base crossed ~285 million as of June 2026, supported by 73 million net additions over the preceding 12 months. Engagement among 5G users remains high, with 5G traffic now generating approximately 1.5 times the data volume of 4G networks.

Fixed Broadband Expansion: Total fixed broadband subscribers reached 28.6 million as of June 2026, gaining ~8.6 million net additions over the last 12 months and cementing Jio's market share at over 43%. Jio AirFiber emerged as the primary growth engine, commanding a user base of over 14 million and driving more than 75% of all fixed broadband additions over the past year.

Global Innovation Ranking: Jio Platforms climbed 320 places in the latest Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) rankings published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for 2025, surging into the global top 20. The company's expanding patent portfolio targets 5G, 5G Advanced, 6G, Artificial Intelligence, AI-native networks, cloud-native platforms, intelligent automation, radio access, core network software, edge intelligence, fixed wireless access, network slicing, and digital services infrastructure.

Commenting on the quarterly performance, Mr. Akash M Ambani, Managing Director of Jio Platforms Limited, stated: "Jio has established itself as a deep tech company and demonstrated the velocity of innovation across multiple advanced technologies. This is underlined by our strong patent portfolio which has been recognised globally.
