ICICI Bank Limited (CIN: L65190GJ1994PLC021012), has released its unaudited consolidated financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 (Q1 FY27) ended June 30, 2026. The financial report showcases robust growth across key parameters, marked by double-digit expansion in bottom-line performance, expanding asset size, and stable operational metrics compared to the parallel baseline period of the previous year (Q1 FY26).

Net Profit Surges Past ₹15,400 Crore

The banking major posted a consolidated net profit for the period of ₹15,440.06 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026. This reflects a substantial 13.9% expansion over the net profit of ₹13,557.60 crore achieved in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year (Q1 FY26). Sequentially, the bank also recorded steady growth, rising 4.6% from the ₹14,755.06 crore registered in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 (Q4 FY26).

The bank's Basic Earnings Per Share (EPS) for the quarter advanced to ₹21.54, up from ₹19.02 in Q1 FY26 and ₹20.62 in Q4 FY26. Diluted EPS for Q1 FY27 stood at ₹21.29. The paid-up equity share capital of the bank stood at ₹1,434.94 crore, consisting of shares with a face value of ₹2 each.

Total Income and Key Revenue Drivers

ICICI Bank's total consolidated income for Q1 FY27 grew to ₹79,689.22 crore, registering a solid 6.9% increase from the ₹74,576.03 crore reported in Q1 FY26.

Core interest earned contributed significantly to this top-line acceleration, coming in at ₹52,240.85 crore for the quarter under review, up from ₹49,079.96 crore in the same period last year. The primary driver within this pool was interest or discount on advances and bills, which brought in ₹37,183.08 crore. Income from corporate investments accounted for ₹12,370.84 crore, while interest on balances with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other inter-bank funds contributed ₹1,259.33 crore. Other components under interest income fetched ₹1,427.60 crore.

Non-interest income, reported as other income, added ₹27,448.37 crore to the total revenue mix. This stream was driven by premium and other operating income from the insurance business at ₹16,780.17 crore, alongside miscellaneous core bank earnings of ₹10,668.20 crore.

Expenditure, Provisions, and Operating Profit

On the expenditure side, ICICI Bank incurred a total outlay of ₹57,084.89 crore (excluding provisions and contingencies) during Q1 FY27. Interest expended by the bank sat tightly at ₹23,063.72 crore, showing negligible change from the ₹23,090.06 crore spent during the same quarter last year.

Operating expenses climbed to ₹34,021.17 crore, up from ₹30,169.16 crore in Q1 FY26. The expense structure was led heavily by claims, benefits paid, and other insurance-specific operations at ₹18,259.76 crore. Core operational employee costs stood at ₹6,911.57 crore, while other administrative operating overheads accounted for ₹8,849.84 crore.

Operating profit before provisions and contingencies registered a healthy 6.0% annual expansion, reaching ₹22,604.33 crore against ₹21,316.81 crore in Q1 FY26. Provisions (other than tax) and contingencies dropped drastically by 28.8% year-on-year to ₹1,297.20 crore, down from ₹1,822.33 crore in the parallel prior period. Profit from ordinary activities before tax and exceptional items stood at ₹21,307.13 crore. After accounting for the share of profit in associates (₹66.48 crore), tax expenses (₹5,097.39 crore), and the share of minority shareholders (₹836.16 crore), the bank concluded the quarter with its net profit of ₹15,440.06 crore.

Expanding Balance Sheet Boundary

The bank's consolidated balance sheet expanded significantly, crossing the ₹30 lakh crore threshold. Total capital and liabilities balanced at ₹3,002,406.89 crore as of June 30, 2026, marking a 12.5% increase from the ₹2,668,635.96 crore recorded a year ago on June 30, 2025.

Total customer deposits scaled up by 14.0% year-on-year, touching ₹1,870,362.74 crore compared to ₹1,641,136.66 crore as of June 30, 2025. Total borrowings, inclusive of subordinated debt instruments, reached ₹226,317.72 crore. Policyholders' funds within the bank's system stood at ₹314,692.25 crore.

On the assets side, the credit book accelerated cleanly, with total advances jumping 19.6% year-on-year to reach ₹1,729,327.48 crore from ₹1,445,593.02 crore in the parallel quarter of the previous year. Corporate and market investments stood robustly at ₹939,300.36 crore. Highly liquid reserves, including cash and balances held directly with the Reserve Bank of India, sat at ₹74,009.08 crore, while balances with other banks and money at call or short notice added ₹122,484.20 crore. Fixed assets accounted for ₹17,329.29 crore, other miscellaneous assets stood at ₹109,406.43 crore, and goodwill on consolidation remained stable at ₹10,550.05 crore.

Segment Performance and Capital Allocation

Looking closely at segment operations for Q1 FY27, retail and corporate wholesale engines performed efficiently:

Retail Banking: Remained the bank's absolute highest top-line engine, drawing segment revenue of ₹42,166.49 crore. The business generated a healthy segment profit before tax of ₹6,238.90 crore, utilizing a massive asset perimeter of ₹897,557.79 crore against liabilities of ₹1,247,505.62 crore.

Wholesale Banking: Generated segment revenue of ₹25,326.59 crore and posted the highest absolute segmental profit of ₹7,479.26 crore. The segment controls an asset base of ₹734,133.68 crore against liabilities of ₹660,596.38 crore.

Treasury Operations: Recorded segment revenue of ₹37,211.69 crore and brought in a segment profit contribution of ₹4,822.43 crore, operating with an asset concentration of ₹740,784.13 crore.

Insurance Ventures: The Life Insurance segment recorded total revenue of ₹13,633.29 crore with a profit result of ₹431.44 crore, backed by segment assets of ₹337,207.23 crore. The General Insurance vertical pulled in ₹7,541.71 crore in revenue, yielding a profit result of ₹535.71 crore.

Other Operations: Other banking systems contributed ₹2,431.60 crore in revenue and ₹718.74 crore in profit, while miscellaneous unclassified operations pulled in ₹5,173.64 crore in revenue and ₹2,190.57 crore in profit.

The total capital employed across the unified ICICI Bank corporate architecture stood at ₹380,529.71 crore at the close of Q1 FY27, positioning the institution comfortably for capital deployment and asset growth over the remaining quarters of fiscal 2027.
