Genesys today announced that its Digital Twin Map platform implementation for the city of Varanasi has been honoured with the esteemed GovConnect Award, recognising its transformative impact on urban governance through spatial intelligence.
The Genesys New India Map Stack, which underpins the Varanasi Digital Twin, fundamentally enhances the use of location intelligence for governance efficiency, infrastructure development, disaster preparedness, and citizen service delivery.
Mr. Himanshu Nagpal, Municipal Commissioner of Varanasi, said, "The Genesys execution of the digital twin map platform will herald a new approach and standard of e-governance using spatial intelligence, which we at Varanasi are putting to great use. Every city and urban body requires this platform."
Mr. Sajid Malik, Chairman & Managing Director, Genesys International Corporation also commented on the win, "This recognition underscores India's growing capabilities in worldclass mapping technology. Genesys is proud to be the only Indian company offering a complete map stack-from geometric twins to predictive twins that combine live and temporal data. Our work in Varanasi shows how spatial intelligence can become a governance multiplier, and we are committed to supporting more cities on this journey."
The Genesys Digital Twin Map Stack captures a high-precision 3D model of the city at 5-cm accuracy, integrates LiDAR-based mapping, live sensor feeds, navigation base maps, and temporal datasets. Notably, over 2,500 CCTV cameras across Varanasi have been linked to the system to enhance crowd management, especially vital for pilgrimage seasons and cultural congregations.
Given Varanasi's location along the plains of the Ganga, the system also supports flood-prone zone detection, disaster modelling, and predictive simulations, enabling more resilient systems planning. The platform further accelerates monitoring and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects in a city known globally for its cultural heritage and ancient urban fabric.
This milestone marks a continuation of Genesys' pioneering innovation in 3D mapping technologies. Its platform is witnessing increasing adoption across urban governance bodies, mobility ecosystems, infrastructure agencies and location intelligence applications, reinforcing India's leadership in digital twin capability.
