Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), part of the Jupiter Group, today announced the launch of its new 10 ft and 20 ft containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with the first 10ft BESS being supplied in partnership with GMMCO, a CKA Birla Group company and one of India's leading providers of energy solutions to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based subsidiary of Recube and a company driving decarbonisation in the events, entertainment, and hospitality sectors.
JEM will continue working with GMMCO, with plans to roll out more such sustainable solutions across the country.
Developed ground-up in JEM, every component from the container to the battery and system integration is designed and manufactured in-house. This marks one of the few vertically integrated approaches in the energy storage system (ESS) segment in India. These standardized, air-cooled systems come with modular rack-based stacking and offer capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh. Built at JEM's Indore and Bangalore facilities, the solutions are engineered for easy transportation, robust performance in harsh conditions, and deployment across diverse clean energy applications, including diesel generator (DG) replacement, solar storage, energy shifting, and backup power for the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) segment.
The launch of these 10 ft and 20 ft containerised systems marks a key step in delivering scalable, domestically built energy storage for India. Marking its entry into global markets, JEM will also export its first 20ft BESS unit to Africa in October and also soon be launching grounds up built liquid cooled BESS systems for grid scale usage.
JEM's newly launched containerised BESS features an air-cooled, modular design with capacities from 241 kWh to 3 MWh. The system has been built indigenously and in-house - from container fabrication to battery manufacturing and System Integration. This launch marks a milestone as one of the few vertically integrated approaches taken by a company in this space in India. To support growing C&I and utility market demand, JEM's Indore plant will scale from a capacity of 1 GWh annually to 5 GWh in the next 3 years. With GMMCO's reach across the country in the energy and equipment space, JEM and GMMCO look forward to support sustainable transition for various industries.
JEM's BESS portfolio addresses India's evolving energy needs, initially focusing on DG replacement and solar storage. Offering energy shifting and backup power, these solutions support C&I applications and future utility-scale deployments, enabling round-the-clock clean energy, reducing carbon footprints, and contributing to a resilient, sustainable, and low-carbon energy infrastructure.
The launch of JEM's containerised BESS is more than a product milestone - it's a contribution to India's Net Zero 2070 vision. By enabling deeper renewable integration, reducing carbon intensity across industries, and building a resilient storage backbone, JEM is helping shape a cleaner, self-reliant, and sustainable energy future for the nation.
Commenting on this momentous occasion, Mr. Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Group, said: "With the launch of our modular 10 ft and 20 ft containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems, JEM marks an important milestone in our Battery Division. Designed ground-up with capacities from 241 kWh to 3 MWh, these systems highlight our in-house design, engineering, and manufacturing strength. Built to stringent IEC standards, with certifications in place and system-level approvals underway, we see this segment scaling rapidly and emerging as a cornerstone of India's clean energy future."
Mr. Pankaj Kumar Jha, Senior Vice President - Energy and Transportation Business, GMMCO Ltd., said: "At GMMCO, we are proud to partner with JEM to launch containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems. With our pan-India reach and energy expertise, we look forward to helping industries transition to sustainable, round-the-clock clean power."
Mr. Arshad Nawaz, Dy General Manager, GMMCO Ltd. said: "The BESS will enable reliable, round-theclock clean energy supply and backup, strengthening the C&I industry's efforts to lower its carbon footprint. Together with JEM, we are committed to driving India's vision of a sustainable and resilient future."
With the launch of its standard containerised BESS, JEM is well-positioned to drive the adoption of clean, reliable, and scalable energy storage solutions across India. This milestone reinforces the company's commitment to domestic manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable growth, while supporting industries in their transition toward round-the-clock renewable energy and contributing to the nation's broader clean energy and Net Zero goals.
