Hindustan Motors Ltd has announced about the following on illegal strike which lead to suspension of work at the company's Uttarpara Plant.
A. In continuation of the Company's earlier Notice dated April 11, 2007 wherein the Company were compelled to declare "Suspension of Work" at the Company's Uttarpara Plant for following reasons:
1. Ingress & egress from the factory of men and materials including obstruction and abuse of employees coming to work, systematically jeopardising the business and livelihood of all employees.
2. A reign of terror, chaos and confusion had been created in and around factory premises with violent demonstration, strike and various other wrongful acts including gherao, becoming regular occurrences. Families of the employees staying at colony Quarters were being threatened with bodily harm.
All this intimidation and abuse of managers, employees, factory vendors, visitors and obstruction of drivers carrying materials were done in utter disregard of the Order of the Hon'ble High Court, Kolkata.
B. In the Company's discussions at various levels including the various Government Official, the Company has reiterated its keenness to resume operations in a phased manner subject to following basic requisites:
1. Demonstrate free egress and ingress to men and materials through sustainable actions / deeds.
2. Eschew the path of violence and provide unconditional assurance on maintenance of discipline at all levels by the workmen / Unions.
C. However, regretfully, the Company is yet to receive any positive commitment / assurances on the above mentioned basic requisites.
D. If the assurances, as demanded above are given by all the unions and by the workmen individually, the Company will positively consider lifting "Suspension of work" within 72 hours in a phased and step by step manner subject to the assurances continuing to be honoured.
E. The established principle of "No Work - No Pay" will be applicable for the period of strike and "Suspension of work."
