Hindustan Motor clarifies on news item regarding production stoppage

With reference to the article appearing in a leading daily titled "Hindustan Motors decided to stop its production" at its Uttarpara plant dated March 30, 2007, Hindustan Motors Ltd has clarified that the Company on March 29, 2007 had announced in a press conference that there was no intention of closing down the Uttarpara unit or halt production. Around 1500 workers had attended regular work schedule at the plant yesterday. The Company had also issued an appeal to the protesting section of the workers to restrain from all activities of violence and intimidation.

The management is committed to make the Uttarpara plant a successful and vibrant industrial unit and the Company is always open to hold discussions with the registered trade unions once normalcy is restored.

Further the Company has informed that, this incorrect reporting would cause hindrance in its efforts to restore normalcy at the plant site.
