Bharti Airtel announces Changes in Operational Leadership Structure

Bharti Airtel Ltd has announced the following changes in the operational leadership structure and roles in the Company effective April 01, 2007. The new group structure ensures separation of operations and governance to achieve higher accountability and significantly enhances empowerment to operating units, in particular, the Company.

Mr. Rajan Bharti Mittal will relinquish his position as Joint Managing Director and will continue as a non- executive Director on the Board of the Company. Mr. Akhil Gupta will relinquish his role as CFO but will continue as Joint Managing Director of the Company.

At the operational leadership level, Mr. Manoj Kohli will now lead the Company in the India & SAARC region as its President and CEO. This enhanced position further empowers Manoj to build the Company and deliver the One Airtel vision. Manoj will lead the Company towards becoming a benchmark in innovative practices, operational efficiency and customer value. He will be responsible for business strategy, operations and its results and report to the Chairman and Managing Director.

The three Joint Presidents have been given enhanced empowerment to lead their respective businesses. Sanjay Kapoor will now be President-Mobile Services, Atul Bindal will be President-Broadband and Telephone Services and David Nishball will be President-Enterprise Services. These enhanced roles will enable them to provide deeper focus and be fully accountable for their business results. They will continue to report to Mr. Manoj Kohli, President and CEO.

Mr. SL Narayanan will be the Corporate Director Finance for the telecom business. Mr. Sarvjit Singh Dhillon has been given enhanced empowerment and will be Chief Financial Officer and Director-Strategy of the Company. He will also report to the President and CEO.

It is expected that these changes will provide a sharper business focus and help effectively mange scale and growth in the coming years.
