Sterlite Optical Technologies Ltd on March 20, 2007 has announced that it has commenced manufacture of ADSL2+ Modems at its facility in Aurangabad. The Company's range of wired and wireless modems were developed in-house and manufacturing unit has an annual installed capacity of 1.5 Million modems.
The Company has received an educational order from BSNL for 3000 units of its SAM100 ADSL 2 + Modem, designed for single-user residential application. All Sterlite modems comply with 'TU-T G.922.1, G.922.3, G.922.5 and IEEE 802.11 b/g international standards.
As an extension to the Company's Access Business - the Company's ADSL 2+ Modems are available in four models that would cater to single-user and multi-user broadband needs for residential and commercial usage.
These modems would initially be available to telecom incumbents, MSO's and institutional buyers in India and Company has firm plans to establish a significant market share in the exponentially growing broadband modems sector in India during FY 2007-08.
