GAIL bags Quality Excellence Award, 2007

Gail India Ltd has announced that the Company in recognition of its high standards of quality control initiatives, has been conferred with the coveted 'Quality Excellence Award, 2007' by the Quality Council of India on February 09, 2007. The award distribution ceremony took place on the occasion of 2nd National Quality Conclave. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, H.E. the Hon'ble President of India presented the award to Shri M R Hingnikar, Director (HR), of the Company.

The Company has been chosen as a proud recipient of this award in the ‘Business Result’ category for its overall impressive financial and market performance, dynamic leadership system, social responsibility results and excellent execution of quality management targets.

Some of the innovative business initiatives taken up by the Company include meticulous examination of key products and customer service outcomes with the aim of timely delivery of products and services, which eventually leads to customer satisfaction and loyalty. Besides customer satisfaction index that enhances the overall health of each business unit's customer relations, the presence of quality circle groups and six sigma techniques act as a motivating catalyst for employees to strive for continuous improvement and growth. The Company is the only Company in the oil and gas sector where all the zonal, plant and finance heads have become siz sigma black belts and their actions and initiatives have saved Rs 40 crore till date.

Another striking feature of the quality initiatives at the Company is its examination of customer-focused performance results with the aim of demonstrating how well the organization has been satisfying customers and has developed loyalty, repeat business and positive referral.
