Reliance Energy clarifies on news item regarding contract

With reference to the news item appearing in a leading portal titled "Reliance Energy wins bid for Western region transmission system; WRTS contract valued at Rs 2,000 Cr", Reliance Energy Ltd has clarified that the Company's subsidiary Company, Reliance Energy Transmission Ltd, has submitted a bid for establishing transmission lines associated with the Western Region System Strengthening (WRSS) scheme floated by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

The financial bids have been opened on November 20, 2006 and the same are under evaluation.
