Tamilnadu Petroproducts doubles PBT and operating profit in Q1 FY27 compared with Q1 FY26

Tamilnadu Petroproducts Limited (TPL), Chennai based Petrochemical manufacturing company, announced its First quarter results for FY2026-27 today.

Financials:

TPL's Q1 FY27 revenue rose by about 68% over Q1 FY26, while EBITDA and PBT increased by 138% and 129%, respectively. The increased demand, supported by efficient cost management, led to higher operating profit for the quarter.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), TPL recorded standalone revenue from operations of ₹784.17 crore, marking a growth of approximately 68% compared to ₹468.27 crore in Q1 FY26.

The surge in demand, coupled with operational efficiencies, translated into significant operational profitability. EBITDA for the quarter rose 138% year-on-year to ₹124.84 crore, up from ₹52.45 crore recorded in the same period last year.

Profit Before Tax (PBT) before exceptional items surged 128% to ₹103.65 crore in Q1 FY27 against ₹45.47 crore in Q1 FY26. TPL reported no exceptional items for the current quarter, compared to an exceptional expense of ₹0.27 crore in Q1 FY26, bringing the final PBT to ₹103.65 crore-a 129% jump over ₹45.20 crore reported in Q1 FY26.

Profit After Tax (PAT) for Q1 FY27 stood at ₹77.82 crore, reflecting a 134% increase from ₹33.22 crore in Q1 FY26.

In the preceding quarter (Q4 FY26), TPL had undertaken a planned shutdown to execute an expansion project, resulting in lower revenue of ₹125.59 crore, EBITDA of ₹20.31 crore, PBT of ₹7.73 crore (including exceptional income of ₹7.62 crore), and PAT of ₹5.83 crore. Consequently, the company noted that the sequential figures of Q4 FY26 are not directly comparable with the operational performance of Q1 FY27.

The company has taken a planned shutdown during Q4 FY 26 for expansion project and hence the numbers of Q4 FY 26 are not comparable with Q1 FY 27.

Mr. Ashwin Muthiah, Vice Chairman - TPL and Founder Chairman, AM International, Singapore, said: "The first quarter has delivered a strong performance, with both sales and profitability showing significant growth, with profitability more than doubling compared to the corresponding period last year. This performance reflects the benefits of our continued focus on cost-led operational efficiencies, improved capacity utilization and our ability to respond to higher customer demand.

Despite the evolving geopolitical situation in the Middle East resulting in increased input cost, the lower import pressures has supported the quarter's overall performance. We remain focused on strengthening our competitiveness while developing carbon-neutral products and solutions that address the evolving sustainability needs of our customers."
