HCC secures Rs. 524 crore NHPC contract in J&K

Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) has secured a Rs. 524.17 crore contract from NHPC Limited at the Salal Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir.

The project involves civil and hydro-mechanical works, along with associated ancillary and enabling works, required to make the undersluices of the concrete dam at the Salal Power Station fully functional and operational. The contract has a duration of 27 months.

The Salal Power Station is one of NHPC's key hydroelectric assets. The rehabilitation of its undersluices is expected to enhance the dam's operational efficiency, improve sediment management and further strengthen its long-term safety and reliability.

The contract builds on HCC's four-decade legacy of delivering landmark engineering projects across Jammu & Kashmir, including the construction of the 690 MW Salal Hydroelectric Project, commissioned in 1987. In addition, the Company has constructed four projects, Uri-II (240 MW), Kishanganga (333 MW), Nimoo Bazgo ( 45 MW) and Chutak (44 MW) - representing a combined installed capacity of 1,352 MW, or approximately 38% of J&K's total installed hydropower capacity.

Beyond hydroelectric infrastructure, HCC also built India's first cable-stayed railway bridge at Anji Khad and executed nearly 32 km of tunnels, about 27% of the total tunnel length for the strategically important Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project, strengthening connectivity for both civilian and defence movement.

Shares of Hindustan Construction Company Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 20.03 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 20.22. The total number of shares traded during the day was 1342431 in over 3157 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 20.35 and intraday low of 19.71. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 26856182.00.
