Umiya Buildcon Launches fully Indigenous MRO-TEK CORNUS Switches to Support Make in India Vision

Umiya Buildcon Limited (BSE: 532376 | NSE: UMIYA-MRO and formerly MRO-TEK Realty Limited), a publicly listed dual-sector company, today announced the launch of its MRO-TEK CORNUS Family 1G Switches, developed in India to meet the growing demand for secure, high-performance networking solutions. The launch appropriately coincides with the anniversary of the Make in India initiative, and reflects Umiya Buildcon's commitment to driving indigenous innovation and supporting the country's vision of self-reliance in advanced telecom and networking infrastructure. With over 65 percent local content, the switches qualify under the highest Class 1 category for local manufacturing as per DPIIT Preference to Make in India (PMI) policy.

The CORNUS Family switches are fully managed Layer-2 Gigabit switches, available in multiple variants ranging from 4* to 26* electrical Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports and 2* to 6* fiber GE ports. Select models support port-based Power over Ethernet (PoE), delivering 15 or 30 watts per port to power IP cameras, access points, and other connected devices. These switches are designed for deployment across critical sectors including telecom operators, ISPs, public sector undertakings, industrial enterprises, and railways. Key applications include railway signaling systems, fully compliant with RDSO specifications, traffic police video surveillance networks (VSS), Wi-Fi connectivity, bandwidth delivery, industrial automation, and long-haul media conversion.

At the core of the CORNUS Family is the Indigenously developed operating system, MRO-OS, created entirely by Umiya Buildcon's R&D and product development teams. MRO-OS features a scalable dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 management layer and supports advanced Layer-2 protocols including VLAN, STP/RSTP/MSTP, ERPS, IGMP, LACP, QoS, and ACL. The management interface offers Web, Telnet, SNMP V1/V2/V3, Syslog, and TFTP, providing flexibility and control for a wide range of network architectures.

The hardware is built on Microchip and Realtek System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture, with electronics manufacturing from the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) stage carried out at Umiya Buildcon's facility in Electronics City, Bengaluru. The switches have been rigorously tested and certified by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) under the DoT's Mandatory Testing and Certification of Telecommunication Equipment (MTCTE) framework. They are also recognized as Trusted Products under the Trusted Telecom Portal, operating under the aegis of the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). The design and software of the CORNUS Family are protected by copyright registration under Government of India IPR regulations, reflecting the proprietary nature of the technology.

As part of the Product Development roadmap, the Company is in an advanced stage to develop more products in the 10 G and 40 G range. The MRO-OS will serve as the basic firmware fabric for the switch architecture. The 10 G switch is at a testing stage and the company is confident of a product rollout very soon.
