India Launches its Fastest Solar-Electric Boat: SaurShakti

MDL sets sail into a sustainable future with the launch of the SaurShakti, the nation's fastest solar-electric boat. Developed through a groundbreaking collaboration between MDL (Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited) and M/s NavAIt (NavAlt solar electric boat Pvt. Ltd.) Kochi, this vessel represents a paradigm shift in eco-friendly Maritime Transportation.

The SaurShakti, has been meticulously conceptualized and developed by MDL with M/s NavAlt as technology partner. Designed by NavAlt for workboat purposes, it boasts of remarkable capabilities with a top speed of 12 knots, capacity to operate for up-to 7 hours on a single charge and further supplemented by solar power. Its twin 50 kW electric motors are supported by marine grade LFP (Lithium-ion Phosphate) Battery and 6 kW solar power which is an epitome of efficient and clean energy usage.

This innovative vessel isn't just about achieving speed and sustainability, it's further designed with passenger comfort also in mind. Certified under IRS, it comfortably accommodates 12 passengers. Moreover, its electric operation emits no gases and hence results in zero pollution, creates no noise, and produces no vibrations, and hence also ensuring a serene and eco-conscious journey for the commuters.

MDL, renowned for its illustrious shipbuilding history, takes a pioneering step towards a greener future by introducing this entirely eco-friendly vessel. Backed by NavAlt's expertise in solar-electric vessel manufacturing, the boat is a testament to their commitment to sustainable maritime technology.

The official Launching of this ground-breaking vessel on 13th of December, 2023, was at Navgathi Panavally Yard, Alappuzha, Kerala in the presence of Chief Guest, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh General Manager, Shri Hemant Kumar Rathod of MDL.

Smt. Devi Nair Additional General Manager MDL carried out the official launching of the boat and thus marking a historic moment in India's maritime progress. The function was attended by Mr. Sandith Thandasherry CEO of M/s NavaAlt Solar and Electric boat Pvt Ltd. along with the senior executives from MDL and M/s NavaAIt.

Shares of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 2081.35 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 2072.05. The total number of shares traded during the day was 27085 in over 1731 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 2115.15 and intraday low of 2075.75. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 56641703.00.
