Karnataka Bank's two Digital Banking Units (DBU) have started functioning as part of the 75 DBUs of various Banks dedicated to the Nation by the Honourable Prime Minister today, commemorating the 75 years of Independence of India celebrated as "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav". All the 75 DBUs across the country were inaugurated by the Hon'ble Prime Minister through video conferencing in the presence of Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister, Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Finance, Shri Bhagwat K. Karad, Union Minister of State for Finance and Shri Shaktikanta Das, Governer, RBI.
The DBUs provide banking products and services to customers in Self Service as well as assisted (digital) mode in an efficient, paperless, secured and connected environment. The DBUs shall also promote financial inclusion and digital banking literacy in the district concerned.
The 2 DBUs of Karnataka Bank have started functioning from today at Airport Road, Yeyyadi, Mangaluru and Vijayanagara Ist Stage, Mysuru.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Mahabaleshwara M.S, MD & CEO of Karnataka Bank, said "It is a matter of pride for the Bank to be selected for opening two DBUs out of the total 75 DBUs and further an honour to have them inaugurated by none other than the Honourable Prime Minister of our country. I consider it as an acknowledgment and recognition at national level for the rapid strides Karnataka Bank has been making in promoting 'Digital Banking' in the country, through its various initiatives. This recognition is even more special as we are now stepping into the 'Centenary Year' of our existence. We are committed to support GoI in furthering the cause of promoting digital financial inclusion and bolstering our economy in future also as Bank aspires to evolve as the 'Digital Bank of Future'".
On the occasion, Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament said "Our Honourable Prime Minister has realized the goal of Financial Inclusion by successful implementation of various schemes, through which all the benefits are directly reaching to the common man. Now this Digital Banking Units are yet another step towards Digital India where the Banking Services will be available to the common man 24x7. I am very happy that, our own Karnataka bank, which is celebrating its Centenary Year during next year and has already taken lot of digital initiatives has been allotted with Mangaluru and Mysuru DBUs in Karnataka State."
Dr. Bharat Shetty, MLA, Shri Prathap Simha Nayak, MLC, Shri Jayanand Anchan, Mayor, Mangaluru City Corporation, Shri Gokuldas Pai, CBO of the Bank, Shri Vinaya Bhat P J, General Manager, other eminent personalities and customers of Karnataka Bank were present on the occasion.
Shares of The Karnataka Bank Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 83.15 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 82.25. The total number of shares traded during the day was 81824 in over 854 trades.
The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 84.75 and intraday low of 82.85. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 6842974.00.
