Merck announces Q1 net profit of Rs.159.309 million, totall income at Rs.797.818 million

Merck Ltd has announced the following Unaudited results for the quarter ended March 31, 2007. The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 159.309 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 where as the same was at Rs 185.402 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2006. Total Income (net of excise) is Rs 797.818 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 where as the same was at Rs 1074.383 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2006.

The figures for previous year / quarter are not comparable, due to sale of Life Science & Analytics (excluding Bulk Drugs) business w.e.f. April 01, 2006.

The stock closed the day at Rs.403.15, up by Rs.3.20 or 0.80%. The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.407 and low of Rs.399. The total traded quantity was 8574 shares compared to 2 week average of 3237.
