Four special tourist trains "Janam Bhoomi Gaurav" will be launched to take forward the efforts of promoting Rail Tourism. Presenting the Railway Budget for 2011-12 in the Lok Sabha today, the Minister of Railways Mamata Banerjee said that these special trains will connect important historical and educational places in various parts of the country. These proposed Janam Bhoomi Gaurav trains will run on the following routes:
1. Howrah-Bolpur-Rajgir (Nalanda)-Pataliputra (Patna)-Varanasi (Sarnath)-Gaya-Howrah
2. Bangalore-Mysore-Hassan (Space Facility, Belur, Halebid, Shravanbengola)-Hubli-Gadag(Hampi)-Bijapur (Gole Gumbaz)-Bangalore
3. Chennai-Puduchcheri-Tiruchichirappali-Madurai-Kanniyakumari-Thiruvananthpuram-Ernakulam-Chennai
4. Mumbai-Ahmedabad-(Lothal)-Bhavnagar (Palitana)-(Alang)-Gir-Diu (Somnath-Veraval)-(Junagarh)-Rajkot-Mumbai
