Sterlite Industries announces Q1 net profit of Rs.223.49 Crores, up 572% YOY

Sterlite Industries India Ltd has announced the following Unaudited Results for the quarter ended June 30, 2006:

The Company has posted a net profit after tax of Rs 2234.90 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 (Q1 FY 06-07) as compared to Rs 390.70 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 (Q1 FY 05-06). Total Income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 11403.40 million in Q1 FY 05-06 to Rs 24037.40 million for Q1 FY 06-07.

The Consolidated Results are as follows:

Income attributable to Consolidated Group is Rs 8790.00 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 (Q1 FY 06-07) as compared to Rs 1638.90 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 (Q1 FY 05-06). Total Income (net of excise) has increased from Rs 19217.10 million in Q1 FY 05-06 to Rs 47384.60 million for Q1 FY 06-07.
