HCL partners with Turbo Power systems for Dreamliner project

HCL Technologies Ltd has announced on July 19, 2006 that the Company has won a contract to supply DO-178B software to Turbo Power Systems (formerly Turbo Genset), for equipment in support of the Boeing 787 Dreamilner programme.

The contract will be signed Jointly by Michael Hunt, CEO of Turbo Power Systems end Rajeev Sawhney, corporate vice-president of the Company, at the prestigious Farnborough Arshow, later on July 19, 2006.

Turbo Power Systems has selected the Company to provide DO-178B software verification and validation in support of their recently announced agreement with Hamilton Sundstrand for the design and supply of the motor controller for the Ram Fans used as part of the power electronics cooling system on the Boeing 787.

This contract is the latest in a wide range of projects relating to the 787 Dreamliner, being undertaken by the Company. Other aerospace customers include Volvo Aero, Meggltt and BAe systems.

Rajeev Sawhney, corporate vice-president explained the context of the deal: "India presents a unique opportunity for the aerospace industry and HCL is poised to be a significant player in this Vertical market. Our investment in developing our capabilities to support large programmes such as the Dreamliner 787 are now paying dividends and HCL is the only offshore IT services partner to the 787 programme.

Customers such as Turbo Systems look to HCL to provide a critical competitive advantage by Improving time to market and offering hard cost savings without sacrificing the integrity, safety or Security of any given project. This contract will involve the establishment of a joint development team co-located in the UK and India further demonstrating how our pioneering combination of onshore and offshore presence enables companies such as Turbo Power Systems to have full confidence in their outsourcing arrangements.
