Coal India July 2026 Performance: Off-take Surges 17.4% to 63.7 MT; Production Up 8.4%

State-run Maharatna coal mining giant Coal India Limited (BSE: 533278 | NSE: COALINDIA | ISIN: INE522F01014) released its provisional production and off-take figures for July 2026 and the cumulative period April 2026 - July 2026.

Driven by strong demand across power and industrial sectors, CIL recorded a sharp 17.4% YoY jump in coal off-take for July 2026, alongside an 8.4% YoY rise in monthly coal production.

Key Operational Highlights

1. Coal Off-take (Dispatch) Performance

July 2026 Off-take: Total coal dispatches surged 17.4% YoY to 63.7 Million Tonnes (MT) compared to 54.2 MT in July 2025.

YTD Off-take (Apr-Jul 2026): Cumulative dispatches rose 6.8% YoY to 261.9 MT against 245.2 MT recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Subsidiary Leaders (July):

Central Coalfields Limited (CCL): Dispatches skyrocketed 66.1% YoY to 7.4 MT (vs. 4.5 MT).

Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL): Off-take rose 38.4% YoY to 4.5 MT.

Western Coalfields Limited (WCL): Off-take grew 36.2% YoY to 5.4 MT.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL): Remains the largest off-take contributor, dispatching 18.2 MT (+10.4% YoY).

2. Coal Production Performance

July 2026 Production: Total coal production increased 8.4% YoY to 50.4 MT compared to 46.4 MT in July 2025.

YTD Production (Apr-Jul 2026): Cumulative production stands at 220.0 MT, reflecting a slight decline of -4.3% YoY compared to 229.8 MT in FY26 due to heavy rains and operational constraints earlier in the fiscal year.

Subsidiary Drivers (July):

CCL: Led production growth with a 56.9% YoY increase to 5.9 MT (vs. 3.8 MT).

ECL: Registered a 34.1% YoY rise to 3.6 MT.

SECL: Produced 11.5 MT (+17.5% YoY).

MCL: Contracted by -10.7% YoY to 13.1 MT, though it maintained the highest total volume among subsidiaries.
