Indian Oil Corporation subsidiary Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) (BSE: 500110; NSE: CHENNPETRO) today announced its audited consolidated financial results for the first quarter of Financial Year 2026-2027 (Q1 FY27) ended June 30, 2026.

Driven by higher throughput and favorable crude-to-product refining margins, the company staged a complete performance reversal on a year-on-year basis, turning around from a loss in Q1 FY26 to deliver over ₹1,000 crore in net profit for the quarter.

Key Financial Highlights

Revenue from Operations: Reached ₹29,358.75 crore for Q1 FY27, registering a massive 57.14% YoY surge compared to ₹18,683.49 crore in Q1 FY26 and a 43.52% QoQ jump over ₹20,455.29 crore in Q4 FY26.

Total Income: Stood at ₹29,376.45 crore, supported by ₹17.70 crore in other income, compared to ₹18,692.74 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Profit Before Tax (PBT): Stood at ₹1,380.24 crore (including ₹14.68 crore share of profit from joint ventures/associates), turning around sharply from a loss before tax of ₹(63.58) crore in Q1 FY26.

Net Profit After Tax (PAT): Consolidated net profit for the period reached ₹1,031.35 crore (₹103.14 per share equivalent scale), compared to a net loss of ₹(40.10) crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹1,421.85 crore in Q4 FY26.

Total Comprehensive Income: Stood at ₹1,026.32 crore for the quarter, after accounting for net other comprehensive income adjustments.

Earnings Per Share (EPS): Basic and diluted EPS for Q1 FY27 rebounded to ₹69.26 per equity share (face value of ₹10/- each, not annualised), up from ₹(2.69) in Q1 FY26.

Operational Expenditure Summary

Total expenses for Q1 FY27 stood at ₹28,010.89 crore, compared to ₹18,772.80 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹18,585.72 crore in Q4 FY26.

Cost of Materials Consumed: Scaled to ₹25,708.27 crore in line with higher crude processing volumes, up from ₹14,209.13 crore in Q1 FY26.

Excise Duty: Stood at ₹1,989.48 crore, compared to ₹3,871.26 crore in Q1 FY26 and ₹3,637.97 crore in Q4 FY26.

Changes in Inventories: Reflected an inventory credit of ₹(538.25) crore.

Employee Benefits Expense: Controlled at ₹140.60 crore, down from ₹147.40 crore in Q4 FY26.

Finance Costs: Stood at ₹52.14 crore.

Depreciation & Amortisation: Came in at ₹154.92 crore.

Other Expenses: Accounted for ₹485.18 crore.

Tax Expense: Total tax expense for Q1 FY27 was ₹348.89 crore, comprising current tax (including earlier years) of ₹333.31 crore and deferred tax of ₹15.58 crore.

Share Capital & Reserves

The paid-up equity share capital of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited remained unchanged at ₹148.91 crore (face value of ₹10/- per share) as of June 30, 2026. Other equity excluding revaluation reserves stood at ₹10,960.30 crore as of March 31, 2026.

Shares of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 1269.50 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 1307.80. The total number of shares traded during the day was 431777 in over 13971 trades.
