Godawari Power & Ispat Receives 'Consent to Operate' for 6.91 MW Waste Heat Recovery Plant

Godawari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL) has announced a significant step toward enhanced energy efficiency at its integrated steel plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. In a regulatory filing dated April 2, 2026, the company confirmed receiving the "Consent to Operate" from the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board for its new 6.91 MW Waste Heat Recovery Based Power Plant.

The plant is designed to generate power by utilizing waste heat from flue gases produced by the company's existing Pellet Plant and Ferro Alloys Division. This sustainable approach allows GPIL to convert industrial byproduct heat into usable electricity, reducing its overall carbon footprint and energy costs.

Project Timeline and Status:

Location: Siltara Industrial Area, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

Current Status: Trial runs and testing phase commenced on April 2, 2026.

Commercial Operations: The plant is expected to begin full commercial operations by the end of April 2026.

This development reinforces GPIL's commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals and operational efficiency within its integrated steel manufacturing setup.
