Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd commences coal production at Pachwara South Coal Block

Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), a Joint Venture Company of NLC India Limited and U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, with equity shareholding in the ratio of 51:49 respectively, is establishing a 3 x 660 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant at Ghatampur, Uttar Pradesh.

To meet the fuel requirement of the said power plant, Pachwara South Coal Block located in Dumka District, Jharkhand, was allotted to the Company by the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, vide allotment order dated 03rd October, 2016. The coal block, which was previously unexplored, has been fully explored by NUPPL through detailed drilling across the entire block.

The Pachwara South Coal Block has an extractable coal reserve of 264.84 million tonnes, with a normative mining capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum and an average coal grade of G10.

Subsequent to commencement of overburden removal on 19th December, 2025, the Pachwara South Open Cast Project has successfully commenced coal production on 29th March, 2026.

Shares of NLC India Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 268.60 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 270.40. The total number of shares traded during the day was 162431 in over 4693 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 275.90 and intraday low of 265.05. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 44123955.00.
