In response to the government's gazette notifications issued on March 7, 2024 and September 20, 2024, which mandated BIS certification for all electrical appliances (including Kitchen appliances such as cooking ranges, Hobs, Ovens and other similar appliances). The directive from the DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, mandates that all household and similar electrical appliances used in India-regardless of whether they are manufactured domestically or imported-must bear the Standard Mark of the Bureau of Indian Standards under a valid BIS license.

In reference to this Notification and directive it has become obligatory for all the manufacturers of household electrical appliances, whether in India or overseas, to immediately apply for BIS license and obtain a valid BIS certification license. This directive, prohibits the import of these products from countries that do not hold BIS certification.
