JSW Steel Posts 36% Growth in Crude Steel Production in May 2007

JSW Steel Ltd has announced that the Company has registered a growth of 36% in crude steel production in May 2007. The Company has recorded healthy growth in all the products. The break-up of product-wise production is as below:

The production of Crude Steel was at 2.59 Lakh tonnes (May 07) and the increase over May '06 is 36%. The production of HR Coils was at 2.30 Lakh tonnes (May 07) and the growth over May'06 was 537%.

The production of HR Plates was at 0.03 Lakh tonnes (May 07) which is a decrease of 84% over May '06. The Production of Galvanised was at 0.65 Lakh tonnes (May 07) which is a growth of 59% compared to May '06.

The production of Pre-painted GI was at 0.08 Lakh tonnes (May 07) which is an increase of 917% compared to May '06.

Volumes are higher over corresponding month of previous year since there was shutdown of Hot strip mill for modernization in May '06. The Company has also showed 19% growth in volumes sequentially in Crude Steel and HR Coil products and 8% growth in Galvanised products. Incase of HR Plates volumes are lower due to planned shutdown of 25 days for modernization of the plate mill.
