IOC chairman Sarthak Behuria elected First Vice President, World LPG Association

Mr. Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, IndianOil, the highest ranked Indian corporate in the prestigious Fortune Global 500 listing of the largest corporations in the world, has been elected as the First Vice-President of the World LP Gas Association (WLPGA). Elected the Vice President for Asia earlier last year, this elevation eloquently underlines his leadership skills, as a visionary who is transforming the largest Corporate in the country into a fully integrated, transnational, energy major, present in the entire hydrocarbon value chain.

Every three years, the General Assembly of the World LP Gas Association elects from amongst its members, its President and First Vice President, to lead the international body. Mr. Behuria was unanimously elected as the First Vice President to the Board of the WLPGA during the recently held 19th World LP Gas Forum at Chicago, USA, in line of succession to be the next President of World LP Gas Association.

Responding on his election, Mr. Behuria said, Increasingly, the debate at the global level is shifting from mere consumption to sustainable levels of consumption. Fossil fuels are not infinite resources and we need to look at newer and more efficient ways to enhance the utilization of such resources. Gas is the future and the World LPG Association has been leading the way in the formulation of policies that provide for newer, cleaner and eco-friendly alternatives. I am indeed thankful to the WLPGA for having recognized India and IndianOil by bestowing to me this responsibility, he said.

The World LP Gas Association is a premier body representing all segments of the burgeoning Global LPG industry and includes energy producers, premier marketers and equipment manufacturers. Its membership base of 150 covers almost all the countries in the world who are represented by their flagship energy corporates, as well as all major MNCs in the LPG business. Nine corporates from India among them IndianOil, BPCL, HPCL, RIL are members of this prestigious associations.

Mr. Behurias election as the First Vice-President of the WLPGA is testimony to his stature and a recognition of his contribution to make the world body an intellectual powerhouse promoting the use of eco-friendly LPG energy solutions to a world that is increasingly being depleted through high emission levels.
