Moschip Semiconductor Technology Ltd has announced that it has begun shipment of mass production units of two new devices, MCS7840 and MCS7820 and evaluation boards have been shipped to over 20 potential target customers. The MCS7840 Integrates four high performance Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitters (UARTs) and a High-speed USB compliant device Interface in a single 64-pin package. The MCS7820 provides two UARTs and a High-speed USB compliant device Interface in a single 48-pin package. The chips provide high level of integration and functionality to help designers dramatically simply their designs and reduce the bill of material cost.
"These are first of the kind of products bridging the USB to high speed serial capable of up to 6Mbps", said Dayakar Reddy, the Company's Managing Director. "MosChip's Engineering team has once again delivered a production worthy product with the first silicon. The product is supported with complete suite of Device Drivers."
The MCS7840 and MCS7820 takes advantage of the Company's expertise and experience in serial connectivity to address the need of customers to increase the performance and reduce the size of their products. The MCS7840 and MCS7820 will be used in next generation Point-of-sale Terminals, Industrial automation and Instrumentation systems.
The Company will be supporting its latest high performance bridge solution with complete software support including embedded firmware, drivers for Windows 98, 2000, XP and Vista as well as Wince, Linux and MacOS, and evaluation boards and copy-ready schematics.
Key features of the MCS7840 (MCS7820) are:
