IT People plans for Upgrading its BS7799 Certification to ISO/ IEC 27001:2005

IT People India Ltd has announced that the Company successfully completed its BS7799 post-certification 1st surveillance audit on the November 09, 2006. The audit was conducted by BSI — British Standards Institution (The body which prepared the British Standards). The Company is the only Company in its space to have stringent information security standards of BS7799.

During this surveillance audit, the Company was not only assessed for compliance with BS7799 standards but also as per the requirements of the forthcoming higher level Information Security Standards of ISO/IEC 27001:2005. The Company plans to target ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification by February 2007.

The world renowned British Standard for Information Security Management Systems, BS 7799-2:2002, had been updated and was released on the October 15, 2005 as an international standard. It is now ISO/IEC 27001:2005. The new standard's official title, is "BS 7799-2:2005 (ISO/IEC 27001:2005) Information technology — Security techniques — Information Security Management Systems — Requirements".
