Aventis Pharma Limited announces its Sales and Profit for Q3 2006

Aventis Pharma Limited announced today unaudited results for the quarter ended September 30, 2006. The Company is 50.1% owned by sanofi - aventis, which has a leading international presence in the prescription drug business.

Financial Highlights
Quarter ended September 30, 2006 compared with quarter ended September 30, 2005

• Sales increased by 8.7% to Rs.2,431 million compared to Rs.2,237 million in Q3 2005
• Domestic Sales increased by 15.1% to Rs.1,795 million in Q3 2006 compared to Rs.1,559 million in Q3 2005
• Export sales decreased by 6.2% to Rs.636 million during Q3 2006 as compared to Rs.678 million in Q3 2005
• PBT rose by 6.1% to Rs.800 million compared to Rs.754 million in Q3 2005
• Earnings Per Share rose by 8.1 % to Rs.23.36 compared to Rs.21.61 in Q3 2005

• Sales increased by 8.9 % to Rs.6,664 million compared to Rs.6,121 million in nine months ended September 2005
• Domestic Sales increased by 16.0% to Rs.5,042 million in nine months ended September 2006 compared to Rs.4,345 million in nine months ended September 2005
• Export sales decreased by 8.7% to Rs.1,622 million during nine months ended September 2006 as compared to Rs.1,776 million in nine months ended September 2005
• PBT rose by 10.4 % to Rs.2,011 million compared to Rs.1,821 million in nine months ended September 2005
• Earnings Per Share rose by 25.1% to Rs.58.44 compared to Rs.46.70 in nine months ended September 2005
