Satyam completes implementation of SAP ECC 6.0 for ETA General Pvt Ltd

Satyam Computer Services Ltd on October 31, 2006 has announced that it has successfully implemented SAP ECC (ERP Central Component) 6.0 for ETA General Pvt Ltd (EGPL - a joint venture between Dubai’s ETA Ascon and Fujitsu General of Japan), an air conditioner manufacturer and provider of complete air conditioning solutions. SAP modules implemented include sales and distribution, materials management, production planning, quality control, cash management and customer service. EGPL is one of the few companies to implement version 6.0 in India that uses Itanium Dual Core "Montecito" server platform, recently launched by Hewlett Packard.

The implementation has enhanced EGPLs access to information, as well as its ability to make rapid, informed decisions. It has also improved cash management, while automating numerous manual business processes. EGPL has thus enhanced its business planning and execution, ensuring more effective resource utilization, and an increased ability to capitalize on new opportunities rapidly.

"Now that EGPL is running SAP EGG 6.0 it has become more flexible and responsive, and can expect to eliminate a great deal of duplicative effort and waste," said Mr Virender Aggarwal, director and senior vice president, APAC MEIA - of the Company. "In addition, its month-end and year-end activities will also be streamlined dramatically, which will enable the organization to substantially improve customer service."

In addition, EGPL will be able to manage inventory more effectively, and integrate easily with technologies it builds or buys in the future. Furthermore, the organization will be able to adopt best practices end replicate then, throughout the enterprise with a greater ease.

The Company installed SAP ECC 6.0 on a Hewlett-Packard UNIX operating system and an Oracle 10.2 database. The system includes a VAN-based wide area network that will link EGPL’s home office with its seven branches and 14 business locations, and its factory at Pondicherry (near Chennai). This facility features a technologically advanced assembly line designed to eliminate defects entirely from the 60,000 units produced there annually.
