Balkrishna Industries Commissions First Phase of Bhuj Tyre Expansion

Balkrishna Industries Limited achieved a key milestone by commissioning the first phase of its off-road tyre production expansion at the Bhuj facility, adding 800 tyres per day of fungible capacity between Commercial Vehicle Radial Tyres and Off-Highway Mining Truck Tyres.

New Tyre Production Line Details

This greenfield product line launch required ₹750 crore investment, fully funded through internal accruals. The capacity forms part of the company's broader ₹1,300 crore phased capex approved on August 9, 2024, and ₹3,500 crore multi-facility expansion announced May 23, 2025, targeting Carbon Black, Power Plant, Commercial Vehicle Tyres, Rubber Tracks, and Passenger Car Radial Tyres.

No prior capacity or utilization applies to this new line, supporting Balkrishna's 2030 growth strategy amid rising global demand for specialized off-highway tyres.

Concurrent Power Plant Upgrade

The company simultaneously expanded its Bhuj power plant capacity from 40 MW to 64 MW. Due to integrated infrastructure shared with upcoming Carbon Black production, segregated capex disclosure remains pending until full program completion.

Strategic Growth Context

These developments build on prior Bhuj brownfield expansions, positioning Balkrishna to enhance self-sufficiency in energy and specialized tyre segments. The integrated approach optimizes costs while scaling for long-term revenue growth in mining, construction, and agriculture applications.

Shares of Balkrishna Industries Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 2509.00 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 2496.40. The total number of shares traded during the day was 4602 in over 991 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 2533.45 and intraday low of 2487.10. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 11543652.00.
