The proposed and ongoing upgradation work on the DND Flyway is likely to witness a temporary delay leading to extended completion timelines by a few weeks.
This is on account of proposed works schedules and continuity being impacted due to onset of hazardous air quality (AQI) conditions across the National Capital Region (NCR) leading to imposition of GRAP-IV measures. It may be noted that road improvement work, being classified as polluting work, cannot be undertaken while GRAP IV is in force.
As per the plan, Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL) had awarded the DND upgradation work and had commenced preliminary activities after completing all preparatory work - including material, manpower and detailed execution plans for the entire stretch - as early as third week of October 2025 with expected completion by end of December 2025 - January 2026.
Statutory restrictions under GRAP-IV prohibited upgradation, including allied activities, resulting in work commencement timeline on DND Flyway getting pushed towards December 2025, a delay of nearly five weeks.
Also, basis technical recommendation, a part of upgradation work (which was originally scheduled for November) cannot be carried out in cold NCR December temperatures as it needs specific temperature environment for completion. Continuation of work in absence of such environment may lead to sub-par outcome and therefore will be taken up in January.
These two factors have hampered the construction related progress on DND flyway, which presently has been kept on hold, affecting the completion timelines. As a responsible infrastructure operator, the Company is fully compliant with all applicable directives issued by the Authorities.
Once GRAP-IV measures are lifted and condition is conducive for commencement of road upgradation activities, the work is expected to be completed within approximately five weeks - which may now spill over the completion timelines into February 2026.
NTBCL remains firmly committed to maintaining DND Flyway to world-class infrastructure standards, commuter safety, and smooth traffic movement, and continues to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure that upgradation activities resume at the earliest permissible opportunity and is completed with least possible disruption.
Any adjustments to these timelines, arising from these external factors, are temporary in nature and the Company will keep stakeholders and commuters appropriately informed as the situation evolves.
