TCS beats the street, net profit at Rs.796.69 Crores

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) has announced the following Audited Results for the quarter ended June 30, 2006:
The Company has posted a profit after tax of Rs 7966.90 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 (Q1 FY 06-07) where as the same was at Rs 5788.60 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 (Q1 FY 05-06). Total Income is Rs 34659.00 million for Q1 FY 06-07 where as the same was at Rs 22763.20 million in Q1 FY 05-06.
The Consolidated Results are as follows:
The Group has posted a net profit (after minority interest & share of profit of associates) of Rs 8826.60 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2006 (Q1 FY 06-07) where as the same was at Rs 6306.20 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2005 (Q1 FY 05-06). Total Income is Rs 42581.90 million for Q1 FY 06-07 where as the same was at Rs 27210.20 million in Q1 FY 05-06.
Comparative figures do not include the figures of the erstwhile Tata Infotech Ltd, Airline Financial Support Services (India) Ltd, TCS Business Transformation Solutions Ltd and Aviation Software Development Consultancy India Ltd, which were amalgamated with the Company retrospectively with effect from April 01, 2005 consequent to the Schemes of Amalgamations of these Companies becoming effective on February 01, 2006. Consequently the comparative figures are not comparable with the figures for the quarter ended June 30, 2006.
Further the Company has informed that, the Board has declared an interim dividend of Rs 3.00 per equity share.
Commenting on the quarter´s performance, CEO and MD of the Company, S. Ramadorai said: "At TCS, the management continues to focus on driving sustainable, robust growth and Q1 has been marked by strong growth in volumes coupled with increasing traction for our new growth engines like BPO and consulting." He added: "Our global Network Delivery Model has been validated by customers who are increasingly leveraging these centers effectively to take advantage of our bouquet of full services on offer."
