InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach organise 'My City My Heritage' Walk, showcasing Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar's Cultural Heritage

InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, and IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo, in collaboration with Sahapedia, hosted a captivating "My City My Heritage" walk in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad). Titled "Monks to Mausoleums: Rich history of a timeless city," the event successfully highlighted the historical and cultural significance of the city through its architectural marvels and landmarks.

'My City My Heritage', an ongoing campaign, is dedicated to raising awareness about India's diverse cultural and historical legacy. By fostering conversations and meaningful partnerships, the initiative aims to preserve and promote both the tangible and intangible heritage of cities, empowering residents to rediscover and take pride in the history and culture that shapes their communities. This initiative has successfully organised similar walks in Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Nashik, Hyderabad, Kozhikode and most recently, Lucknow.

The walk began with an exploration of the 2,000-year-old Aurangabad Caves, renowned for their intricate carvings and historical significance. By delving into the stories etched into the stone walls, participants gained a profound understanding of the city's cultural tapestry. The journey continued at the iconic Bibi-ka-Maqbara, often referred to as the "Taj of the Deccan," where participants learned about its exquisite Mughal architecture and historical context. Led by Dr. Pushkar Sohoni, the walk was attended by members of the local community, government officials, and senior leaders from InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGo.

Both InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach have undertaken various projects to promote heritage conservation and preservation in India. Some of the major initiatives of InterGlobe Foundation include the conservation and cultural revival of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan's mausoleum in Delhi, the cultural mapping and documentation of ten cities, restoration of 'Indra Kund' stepwell in Delwara, tile restoration of Qutb Shah's Mausoleum, and Heritage Fellowships. IndiGoReach has done projects for the conservation of Qutb Shah's Mausoleum at the Qutb Shahi Heritage Park in Hyderabad and the restoration of the interiors of the Lal Bagh Palace in Indore.
