In a significant gesture of solidarity and support, Muthoot Finance, India's largest gold loan NBFC, today announced the construction of 50 new homes for the survivors of the recent catastrophic landslides in Wayanad, Kerala. This initiative is an extension of the Muthoot Aashiyana project, a longstanding commitment to providing safe and secure homes to those affected by natural disasters.
Mr. Babu John Malayil, CSR Head, Muthoot Finance and Ms. Simi KS, Manager - Corporate Communications, Muthoot Finance addressed the media today at Press Club, Ernakulam, regarding the Muthoot Finance's Board of Director's decision to announce the rehabilitation initiative for the affected communities in Wayanad.
The landslides in Punjirimattom, Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, Meppadi, and Kunhome villages of Wayanad have caused widespread devastation and left many families displaced without shelter. Launched following the catastrophic Kerala floods in 2018, the Muthoot Aashiyana Project has provided secure housing to hundreds of families from marginalized communities across India, including Kerala, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Tamil Nadu by handing 257 houses till date. Further, there are few under construction projects including 6 in Thoothukudi for flood victims along with other parts of the country. In response to this calamity, Muthoot Finance reaffirms its commitment to stand in solidarity with the people of Wayanad during this challenging time.
