Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji dedicated to the Nation a 50 MW Indian Railways' largest Solar Power Plant at Bhilai, implemented by Sherisha Rooftop Solar SPV Four Private Limited, a step-down subsidiary company of Refex Renewables & Infrastructure Limited, which helps in utilizing solar power to run trains, promoting green energy, and reducing carbon emissions for a better tomorrow.
Refex Group takes immense pride in commissioning this flagship project and collaborating with the South East Central Railway (SECR) region of the Indian Railways. It will help in the utilization of solar energy in running trains. The Solar Plant is spread across 192 acres, and is expected to generate over 104 million units per year for the consumption by the Indian Railways. The project is also expected to reduce CO2 Emissions by over 1 lakh tonne per year.
Awarded by the Railway Energy Management Company Limited [a joint venture (JV) company of Indian Railways and RITES Limited] and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed by the South East Central Railway (SECR) for 25 years, this 50MW solar power plant is the largest solar power plant commissioned for the Indian railways, with many more to come in the near future.
Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Chhattisgarh' program via video conferencing today. During the programme, the Prime Minister inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹34,400 crores. The projects cater to many important sectors including Roads, Railways, Coal, Power, and Solar Energy.
Commenting on the Project, Mr. Anil Jain, Chairman, Refex Group expressed profound enthusiasm, stating "Refex is deeply honoured to join forces with the Indian Railways in their endeavour to become a Net Zero Carbon emitter by 2030, and India's overall goal of Net Zero Emissions by 2070. Refex Group has also commissioned other special projects such as the solar power plant coupled with battery storage for the Indian Army in Siachen, and the 2 MW pilot project at Diwana (Panipat), Haryana, which is the first along the track solar power project in the Country", he further added.
