Announcing winners of 'The Amara Raja Better Way Awards'

The Amara Raja Group, a $1.75 billion global conglomerate, has announced the winners of 'The Amara Raja Better Way Awards'. The prestigious awards are designed to acknowledge and celebrate exceptional individuals and entities that stand out in the field of innovative entrepreneurship from rural India that contribute to improving the quality of life of people by providing better access to better opportunities. The panel of jurors evaluated these entities by considering their social and community impact, as well as their role in creating local employment opportunities.

The three winners are:

Resham Sutra Pvt Ltd from Ranchi won the Award for Rural Income Generation

Resham Sutra has developed a low-cost solar powered compact silk yarn making machine, and have also developed a novel silk fabric weaving loom which is a fusion of a hand loom and power loom machine incorporating the positives of both these systems. Resham Sutra brings women under Self-Help Groups to make the silk yarn and also to weave silk fabrics using their machines. This way, Resham Sutra has so far created livelihood for about 22,000 women.

Bhaumya Innovations Pvt Ltd from Telangana won the Award for Best Agri-Based Business

Bhaumya Innovations has developed machines that transform wastelands ridden with stones into cultivable lands. This is a boon to farmers with such holdings and also the machine can play a key role in government plans to convert wastelands for farming. They are also developing other machines which aid in farm automation.

Shreeja Mahila Milk Producer Company Ltd from Tirupati won the Award for Women Employment

Shreeja Mahila Milk Producer Company is a cooperative with over 1,20,000 women dairy farmers as members. The entity sources milk from its member farmers at remunerative prices and shares the profits with them.

The three chosen entrepreneurs have made an impact on lives and livelihoods through their initiatives and have played an indispensable role in driving economic growth, job creation, and community advancement. They will be awarded Rs 3 lakh cash prize and one-year mentorship with Amara Raja's CXOs across finance, HR, marketing, IT, and supply chain.

"The winners have made a tremendous social and economical impact through their innovative solutions and products. At Amara Raja we believe in transforming lives and livelihoods and all the three entities have truly transformed the communities that they work in. Ongoing support and guidance will be extended to help winners continue their trajectory of success. We hope to create an India where opportunities are not limited by geography," said Mr Jayadev Galla, Chairman, Amara Raja Group.

Shares of Amara Raja Batteries Limited was last trading in BSE at Rs. 761.60 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 762.60. The total number of shares traded during the day was 59791 in over 3518 trades.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 771.00 and intraday low of 756.05. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 45681823.00.
