Venus Remedies files its 5th International Patent (PCT)

Venus Remedies Ltd has announced that keeping in view its target of creating IPR wealth for the Company, the IPR wing of the Company successfully filed the 5th International Patent Application for the latest antibiotic FDC developed by its R&D wing. The Indian Patent for this product, titled "Treatment and Control of severe infections, including Cystis Fibrosis", was filed in May 2005.

The R & D wing of the Company, specializing in the Cephalosporin & Oncology segments, has delivered this new antibiotic combination, active against multi-resistant strains of both Gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and which provides a broad-spectrum coverage of bactericidal activity. The clinical trials for this Product are under way and the Company shall ready for launching the same in domestic market worth approx. INR 100 Crores in 2007.

This new product, a sure boon for the Cystis Fibrosis Patients, is projected to have a good potential in its respective segment and that it would be a volume building formulation for the Company. Terms have already been finalized with two parties for the launch of this new FDC in domestic market and negotiations are underway for finalizing the terms of launch in global markets worth USD 500 millions.
