Banks in India closed for public on November 9, 2016

All scheduled and non-scheduled banks, including public, private, foreign, cooperative, regional rural and local area banks, will remain closed for public on Wednesday, November 9, 2016.

The Reserve Bank of India announced this through a notification late in the evening on November 8, 2016.

This was announced after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the withdrawal of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes as a legal tender.
