The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) and NASSCOM convened an informative meeting on January 19 2016, between Indian tech companies and five Members of the United States Congress: Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA); Congressman Brendan Boyle (D-PA); Congressman Derek Kilmer (D-WA); Congressman Billy Long (R-MO); and Congressman Juan Vargas (D-CA). The delegation, led by Congressman Ami Bera, will be meeting with senior government officials and business leaders to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities for collaboration between our countries. Congressman Bera is the only Indian American currently serving in Congress and is the Co-Chair of the House India Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.
"This meeting was important because it gave Indian tech companies an opportunity to showcase the contributions they have made to the U.S. economy. We emphasized that the Indian IT sector, which is a $148 billion industry, is the crown jewel of the Indian economy and, as such, is extremely important to the U.S.-India bilateral relationship," said USIBC President Mukesh Aghi.
"Attracting new business to the Sacramento region is one of my top priorities and this visit provided great insight into the many opportunities the U.S. and India have to strengthen and grow their technology sectors. I look forward to continued discussions about expanding foreign direct investment and market access to help grow our economies and deepen U.S.-India ties," said Congressman Ami Bera.
