Bayer MaterialScience wins two awards at Plasticon 2015

For the first time, Bayer MaterialScience participated in the Plasticon Awards 2015 – which are instituted by Plastindia Foundation to felicitate excellence and innovation in the field of Plastics. The only two submissions by Bayer received silver trophies for 'Excellence in Contribution to Agriculture' and 'Innovative use of Plastics in Infrastructure'.
The use of Bayer's Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet for a Green House Solar Dryer project was awarded for 'Excellence in Contribution to Agriculture.' Bayer MaterialScience has been working along with its partners to continuously develop sustainable technology solutions to help strengthen food security and increase the economic benefits for lower income groups. Various Green House Solar Dryer units have been installed across Tamil Nadu for crops like banana, mango, chillies, mushroom, etc. and many more will be installed in the near future.
The second award category 'Innovative use of Plastics in Infrastructure' was granted for the EcoHouse project which involves the construction of low cost houses using agro-waste boards based on polyurethane and recycled paper honeycomb.
Plasticon Awards are the most prestigious awards for the plastics industry, practicing professionals and students and are scheduled every three years during the Plastindia event. An independent panel of juries, comprising of university professors, technocrats, designers, industry professionals evaluate and judge the entries.
