Godrej Appliances conferred with the prestigious National Energy Conservation Award 2015

In line with its commitment toward the environment, Godrej Appliances, one of the leading Home Appliances brands in India, has been relentlessly focusing its Research and Development initiatives towards designing products which encompass high energy efficiency as one of its core design features. Recently Godrej Appliances received 4 awards in the 1st and 2nd position at the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2015 by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Godrej Appliances was awarded the first position in the 'Consumer Goods Energy Efficient Manufacturing' category, for its Shirwal manufacturing unit; while three second position awards were received for Energy Efficiency in Refrigerators, Energy Efficiency in Air Conditioners and Consumer Goods Energy Efficient Manufacturing for its Mohali manufacturing unit.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Kamal Nandi, Business Head & Executive Vice President, Godrej Appliances, said, "We are both honored and humbled to receive these four awards. It is a huge recognition for our efforts towards creating products that are highly energy efficient and environment-friendly. As an organization, we have been actively involved with the Energy Efficiency movement right from its inception. We are also one of the first organizations to have registered with BEE even during the voluntary phase. These awards encourage us to strive further towards designing products that fulfill our responsibility towards the environment and are innovative and delightful for our consumers".

Godrej Appliances as a brand has been leading the Green technology revolution in the Appliance industry and has been consistently recognized for its efforts towards green manufacturing. The company has moved from strength to strength when it comes to Green technology and has set a number of benchmarks for the industry including the launch of the first green refrigerator in India (2002), the first inverter AC in India (2005), the first 5 star range of DC refrigerators (2008), first green AC in the world (2012), the first refrigerator with 6 Star Performance(2012) and India's first ACs with 7-star performance. In recognition of its efforts towards green manufacturing, both the manufacturing units of Godrej Appliances - in Shirwal and Mohali have been awarded the coveted Platinum Green Co certification by CII and became the first manufacturing units in the country to be so honored.

The award is one-of-a-kind with focus on Standard & Labeling scheme and is currently invoked for 16 equipments/appliances which are Room Air Conditioner, Tube lights, Refrigerators, Distribution Transformers, Induction Motors, Electric Storage Water Heaters, Ceiling Fans, Colour TVs, Agricultural Pump Sets, LPG Stoves, Ballast, Washing Machine and Laptops.

The National Energy Conservation Award was launched by the Hon'ble Minister of Power in May, 2006. It has been continuing for about seven years now and has produced significant results in national energy savings. For other equipments, the scheme is presently under the voluntary stage. A maximum of three awards i.e. 1st Prize, 2nd Prize & Certificate of Merit are given for Air Conditioners, Refrigerators & TFLs.
