The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period 11th June - 20th June 2007 were Rs. 1807.65 crore compared to Rs. 1617.20 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 11.78 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs. 1085.81 crore during 11-20 June 2006 to Rs. 1206.73 crore during 11-20 June 2007, showing an increase of 11.14 per cent. The total passenger revenue earnings during the period 11-20 June 2007 were Rs. 536.11 crore compared to Rs. 469.44 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 14.20 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 44.33 crore during this period compared to Rs. 42.57 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 4.13 per cent. The total sundry earnings have gone up from Rs. 19.38 crore during 11-20 June 2006 to Rs. 20.48 crore during 11-20 June 2007, showing an increase of 5.68 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during the period 11-20 June 2007 were 199.73 million compared to 185.32 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.78 per cent. In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during 11-20 June 2007 were 115.31 million and 84.42 million compared to 105.69 million and 79.63 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.10 per cent and 6.02 per cent respectively.
