HCL Technologies Ltd, on June 27, 2007 has announced the opening of its second European outsourcing facility with the establishment of a delivery centre in Krakow, Poland. The Indian, IT services company plans to replicate the success of its European delivery centre in Northern Ireland, which now employs 2300 workers, and is establishing the new facility in direct response to requests from customers.
The Poland delivery centre will open on July 2007 with approximately 100 local employees, growing to 250 by the end of the year and with potential for further growth based on customer with a particular requirement. The new centre will scale to match market demand with a particular focus on application development and infrastructure services.
The Company has signed some of Europe's biggest infrastructure outsourcing deals that take advantage of the excellence in IT and engineering skills in India. With almost 3500 employees across Europe, the mainly locally-hired workers at the centre in Northern Ireland enable the Company to provide customers with on-the-ground resource and expertise combined with Indian service Innovation, such as value-based pricing. The centre also allows customers and the Company comply with European data protection regulations, which can make outsourcing confidential customer information to India difficult.
Rajeev Sawhney, President, HCL Great Britain Ltd., Europe (a subsidiary of the Company) said: "While we are seeing expansion of the types of services being outsourced to India, from infrastructure and applications to aerospace design and engineering, customers require more flexibility from outsourcing deals. They often want somebody on the ground and from the local market and we have been able to provide that very successfully from our Northern Ireland facility.
Now we are getting more and more requests for this capability in Europe and once the centre in Poland is open we will be able to offer customers increased flexibility in their outsourcing deals."
